Everyone wants to be original, of course, and that’s proving to be quite a challenge in 2025 with all the unrequested rehashes, superfluous sequels, and cultural backwash.

While I’ve stumbled across some gems of originality and creativity here on Medium (see:

, , , , , , , , , and plenty of others), it’s hardly a platform exempt from the goofy gobbledygook of AI-generated attempts at mimicking humanity.

There are a number of “writers” with incredibly large followings which I suspect are almost entirely LLM generations with minimal human involvement, except in collecting the checks. It applies to almost all sectors: apologetics, money-making tips, writing about writing, sexuality…I think there are even AI pages dedicated to “writing” about the dangers of AI, though I’m not going to point fingers — I have no tangible confirmation of any of my suspicions.
