Is Privacy “Real”?

One of the fascinating conundrums of our time is that of the nebulous concept of “privacy”.
We care about it, until it’s more convenient not to.

Or… until something crazy happens, like entering a vicariously experiential, voyeuristic, attention-based economy.
Good thing that could never happen.
Phew.

He told us all in 2013 how dire things were.
The trajectory has not improved.
The same day I started writing this article, I tried to download a simple notepad app on my phone. Before clicking “Continue” and beginning to use it, I noticed it said that by clicking that “Continue” button, I was acknowledging I’d read and agreed to the “Privacy Policy”.
Normally, like most people, I don’t read through those things, but I figured it’d be prudent to check it out while working on a Medium article about privacy to actually glance it over.
Good thing I did.
